The Alteco LPS Adsorber is a unique whole blood adsorber to be used for endotoxin removal in extracorporeal therapy together with acute blood purification systems.
The Alteco LPS Adsorber inlet and outlet connectors are standard dialysis connectors (ISO 8637). This means that the product can be used with various acute blood purification systems available on the market.
Alteco LPS Adsorber is compatible with available CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) systems with HP (hemoperfusion) or SCUF (Slow Continuous Ultrafiltration) mode, together with the manufacturers blood lines.
Acute blood purification systems that can be used with the Alteco LPS Adsorber
Examples of brands and types of machines that can be used with the Alteco LPS Adsorber:
• Nikkiso: Aquarius, PureAdjust
• Baxter: Prismaflex, Prismax
• B.Braun: Diapact, Omni
• Fresenius: Fresenius Multifiltrate
• Asahi: PlasautoΣ
• Medica: Flowsmart
The recommended treatment mode for Alteco LPS Adsorber is hemoperfusion. Hemoperfusion is an extracorporeal blood purification modality used for removal of toxins. Unlike hemodialysis, hemoperfusion can remove highly protein-bound
and lipophilic compounds.
SCUF (slow continuous ultrafiltration) can be used in the event that there is no HP mode on the CRRT machine. Filtration should then be set to zero and the resulting modality will be equivalent to hemoperfusion in case no patient fluid removal is prescribed.
CRRT pre-filter (combination)
If used in series with a dialysis membrane, the Alteco LPS Adsorber shall be placed first and blood flow must not exceed 150 ±50 ml/min during the treatment.
