The Alteco LPS Adsorber is a unique whole blood adsorber to be used for endotoxin removal in extracorporeal therapy together with acute blood purification systems.

The Alteco LPS Adsorber inlet and outlet connectors are standard dialysis connectors (ISO 8637). This means that the product can be used with various acute blood purification systems available on the market.

Alteco LPS Adsorber is compatible with available CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) systems with HP (hemoperfusion) or SCUF (Slow Continuous Ultrafiltration) mode, together with the manufacturers blood lines.

Acute blood purification systems

Examples of brands and types of machines that can be used with the Alteco LPS Adsorber:

• Nikkiso: Aquarius, PureAdjust

• Baxter: Prismaflex, Prismax

• B.Braun: Diapact, Omni

• Fresenius: Fresenius Multifiltrate

• Asahi: PlasautoΣ

• Medica: Flowsmart

Set-up

The Alteco LPS Adsorber is used for extracorporeal blood purification treatment, stand-alone or in combination with various dialysis filters.

Hemoperfusion (HP), stand-alone

The recommended treatment modality for the Alteco LPS Adsorber is stand alone in hemoperfusion (HP) mode, as this allows treating the patient early, before AKI (Acute Kidney Injury) and septic shock sets in.

Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), in combination with dialyzer

SCUF (Slow Continuous Ultra Filtration) can be used if there is no HP-mode on the CRRT machine, to enable an early treatment start with Alteco LPS Adsorber.

SCUF is used for volume overloaded patients with or without renal failure, a process of removing fluid but does not allow for significant solute clearance.

The Alteco LPS Adsorber should be incorporated into the circuit before/upstream from the ultrafiltration membrane. Filtration should be set to zero and the resulting modality will be equivalent to hemoperfusion in case no patient fluid removal is prescribed.

Once AKI sets in, the patient may need Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT); acute dialysis. To treat patients in combination mode, the Alteco LPS Adsorber should be incorporated into the circuit before/upstream from the dialysis filter.
